People often ask me where the idea for Mood Space came from. The truth is — it didn't come from one big business moment. It came from real life. From exhaustion, parenting, emotions, stress, love, burnout, and trying to hold everything together while still wanting everyone around me to feel okay.
I'm a mum of two boys with a very full life. I run an early childhood centre, manage a household, support children emotionally every day, and constantly juggle work, family, routines, emotions, finances, and the mental load that so many parents quietly carry. Some days feel amazing. Other days feel heavy.

Working with children for so many years, I noticed something important — children have huge emotions, but they often don't have the words to explain them. Even adults struggle with that sometimes. I saw children arriving at daycare upset, overwhelmed, tired, anxious, angry, disconnected, or shut down. I also saw parents trying their absolute best while carrying their own stress behind the scenes.
At home, I experienced this too.
As a parent, you constantly wonder:
- How are they really feeling?
- Did something happen at school?
- Are they coping emotionally?
- Why are they suddenly withdrawn or frustrated?
And for children and teens, talking about emotions can feel awkward, uncomfortable, or too hard. That's where the idea for Mood Space started.
A space for connection
I wanted to create something simple, safe, modern, and relatable. Not something overly clinical or complicated. Just a space where children and teens could check in with themselves emotionally in a way that felt natural and easy.
Mood Space is about connection — between emotions and understanding, between parents and children, between schools, families, and wellbeing. And most importantly — connection with yourself.

The vision was never just another app. I wanted something that helps children recognise feelings before they become overwhelming. Something that encourages emotional awareness early. A platform that feels supportive instead of "mental health heavy."
I know what it feels like to try and carry everything while also supporting everyone else emotionally. And I know many families feel the same.
Built from real life
Mood Space was built from real life experiences:
- Parenting through emotional ups and downs
- Working closely with children every day
- Seeing how much emotional support is needed
- Understanding how disconnected people can become from their own feelings
- Wanting to create something positive, simple, and meaningful
I truly believe emotional wellbeing needs to become part of everyday life — not just something we talk about during hard times.
If Mood Space can help even one child feel understood, help one parent start a conversation, or help one teen feel less alone in how they're feeling, then it's already worth it.
This isn't just an app to me. It's personal.
